Thursday Evening Pottery Course

Service Description

This 6-week course is designed for those who already have some experience with ceramics and want to refine their skills or explore more advanced techniques. This course provides an excellent opportunity for students to build upon their existing knowledge and experiment with new methods to expand their creative capabilities. Please wear comfortable, flat heeled shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting a bit messy in. Please also bring your own apron. Students can fire and take home any finished pieces they'd like to keep. The first 2 kg of fired work is included in the course fee. After this, we work on a weigh and pay basis of £7 per kilo (e.g. 1 small bowl would cost approximately £1). Firing Your Work Our skilled technicians will ensure each piece is carefully fired. However, working with clay involves inherent risks, and breakages can occur in the kiln despite the best efforts. Your teacher will guide you through techniques to minimize the risk of breakages, but remember, sometimes the kiln gods have their say! Studio Safety & Guidance You’ll receive a thorough safety briefing in your first session. The kiln area is restricted to teachers and technicians only. Please avoid handling any unfired pieces that are not your own, as they are fragile. Non-Attendance We understand that life can sometimes get in the way, but unfortunately, we are unable to offer make-up sessions. If you miss a session, your teacher will assist you in catching up with any missed techniques or demonstrations.
