The Mudworks is excited to offer a brand-new series of 4-week throwing courses designed for improvers who want to explore different clay bodies and expand their skills on the wheel. Each course focuses on a unique clay type, giving you the chance to experience its distinct qualities and how to work with it effectively. Over four weeks, you’ll have two sessions to experiment with the clay, followed by a week to trim your pieces and finally, a glazing session to bring your creations to life. Porcelain is revered for its silky smooth texture and stunning finish, porcelain is often considered the “halo” of all clays. Throwing with it feels like working with velvet—it’s delicate, luxurious, and requires a lot of finesse to master. But once you’ve experienced the magic of porcelain on the wheel, it’s hard to go back. When fired, it creates a luminous, almost ethereal quality, and glazes seem to pop in ways you’ve never seen before. This one’s a true indulgence for those looking to push their throwing skills to new heights. We only have 6 spots per course, so make sure to book your place quickly before they’re gone! Classes run on Wednesday eves from 6-8.30pm. Level: Participants must be confident wheel throwers. Please allow at least 20 minutes to tidy and clean your wheels at the end of the session. Participants have a 3kg allowance for finished fired goods. Over 3kg is charged at £9 per kilo.
